committed by Republican Vice President Cheney, and President Bush too, if he at all understood what was going on. So they have to make the Democrats look as though they cause and caused all the trouble. Racism may be a part of it with a few of them, but it's more like sharing some and all blame on Democrats.

that the Iraq war was a mistake.

Now, how does the US disentangle itself, without the mayhem, and humanitarian crisis, that will follow upon total withdrawal?

Your damned right OUR President understood and still understands, I should have said V Pres Cheney and Pres Bush, mostly because in my mind, Cheney was the ringleader.

He's the one who approached Bush to be President and then told him who should be Vice President - him - because he knew he could wrap him around his poisonous finger....

As to how my beloved President gets us out of it, I do not know. I think he does know, but his hands are tied by the Republicans at every turn....He always tries negotiations and peace proposals first, and they want to bomb first and ask questions later.

"We just need to get out of Iraq. Now!" Seemingly, without any thought about how it can be done ... and not lead to MORE death and destruction.

"If you break it, you own it."

I would argue that the answer to the "when" question is: "when Iraq has a functioning, non-US led, government."

Maybe we need to just get out of their way. Anything we ever do in the ME only seems to make things worse. That's why I'm in the "get out now" camp.

could ever get a moment of breathing room, there world be a concerted effort at promoting/pushing the Iraqis to form a coalition government with representation of all Iraqi factions and the U.S. and the UN standing by to make share people play fairly.

But quite frankly ... Iraq is a really small spot on the map and is not Nuclear capable and (as it stands) not the home to terrorist training camps. So, it doesn't rate high on the "urgent to address" list.

I think more than a few will use racism if they think it will work in their favor.

The contempt some GOP reps have for their constituents is amazing.

If something's working, figure out how to bollocks it up.

If something's not working, figure out how to blame it on someone else.

Sounds like a stressful day at the office. Guess we need to get down to the club and cheer one another on - oh, and make a few phone calls to the money-bags.

If he didn't have to fight Congress every step of the way. Now that the Republicans control both houses the next two years will be even worse than the previous six. If he had the majorities of FDR I think the country would look every different right now.
