(42,641 posts)he will announce that mistakes could have been made but that we must move on and look forward and all those phrases that let the murderer know that he will not be called to account for killing Mike Brown

(86,515 posts)It fricken better be worthy of the hype. I've heard too many white cops getting a free ride after killing an unarmed person of color and it has been pissing me off every day since at least last summer.

Will St. Louis County DA McCulloch resign since one of the cities within his jurisdiction was engaged in a pattern of constitutional violations? Puh-leeze.
Michael Brown died at the hands of a murdering cop and the white supremacist system has ratifed Brown's latter-day lynching.

(30,099 posts)think he has benefited victims of Ferguson's discrimination and beyond, in the realm
of civil lawsuits that could spring from the report. It was an excellent account of violations and systemic abuse.

(85,986 posts)...although he, understandably, didn't come right out and say it. They have a detailed report from an extensive investigation that includes actual officer testimony. I'd think there will be a flood of legal actions looking for justice in literally hundreds of cases of bias and abuse.
It has the potential to affect already decided cases and pending ones, as well.

(30,099 posts)This has potential support for cities across the nation, I feel. Break their system where it
hurts, lawsuits can bring social change, has in the past, and I hope it does good here too.
Today is a good day, Holder should feel especially proud.

(85,986 posts)...stark and direct accusation of 'racial bias' from Ferguson PD for purposes of 'generating revenue.'
Way short, though, on what direct action they will take to address these abuses they found. Not clear what will be the trigger for Justice Dept. action or what timetable they'll apply for Ferguson to comply...unconvincing on reasons for neglecting to prosecute Wilson.
Also, I'm wondering about the potential for individual lawsuits based on this report.
Much more to be discussed...hope we can have a more extensive debate and discussion here at DU. At any rate, let's stay tuned and focused on what takes place as we go forward from this startling report of disturbing facts already widely known by residents in Ferguson.

(85,986 posts)...but, to your point, these monetary penalties are almost the only way to move local politicians into action. The Ferguson PD has become a liability. Time to shut it down.

(51,076 posts)I really do like this man and wish he wasn't heading out the door but a man can only take so much bullshit thrown his way. Sure he didn't go after the rich boys after the crash and the reason is. The congress critters prior to and leading up to the present had passed laws with little wiggle words here and there to where the accountants were able to do what they did, which was fuck us royally, btw, and do it in a manner where there really couldn't be charges filed and if there was more than likely found not guilty. Nothing he could do even if he wanted to due to the way our laws are written by our bought off congress critters. This shit has been going on a long time now. With citizen united the big players don't even have to hide it anymore. Holder is a good dude doing an impossible job. Such as our President Obama.
