Benghazi all over again!
Will they find any blood this time?

(14,733 posts)I want government to WORK, and work efficiently.
If the email servers at State suck so badly, they need to fix THOSE, not let the Secretary simply set up their own personal servers that 'work better'.
It's sounding more and more like the VA in terms of outdated tech.

(9,951 posts)...will bore the general voter. Republicans who think Hillary and Obama plotted to kill those Americans in Benghazi will love this story, however, and find clues aplenty!

(34,661 posts)non issue run it's course. This whole E-Mail thing is a Political Side show to get your attention while the Rethugs try to pass a huge corporate tax bill that does one of the greatest wealth transfers onto the working poor. Once the Clinton Camp says enough already, they will go on the offensive and it is not going to be pretty, this e-mail thing is going to bite the Rethugs in the ass big time.

(3,891 posts)The public is familiar with the Clintons, and are aware that scandals tend to follow them everywhere. Look at this post from a day ago.

The public believes that Hillary will play fast, and loose with the rules. They're not surprised, but they're a little bored. The reason the public is bored is because this scandal is not up to the standards of the usual Clinton revelations. In short, no sex.
The public believes that Hillary broke the rules, and is going to keep breaking the rules. Now, I want you to consider that image as we go into the election. As the season continues on, and more questionable activities come to light. No matter if they were strictly legal by the strict definition of the law, they are still questionable as far as wisdom and honesty goes. What that means is if the Republicans nominate someone who is perceived as honest, and trustworthy, we'll suffer.
So unless we want to see the Republicans win, we have to work overtime to make sure that they nominate Chris Christie. Because scandals are surrounding him. He also has the general public perception of being somewhat shady. There, our somewhat shady candidate won't suffer too much in comparison to their somewhat more shady candidate.
Are we sure we want to nominate someone who the public is ready to believe plays fast and loose with the rules? Because we've seen political futures suffer from that image. Does anyone remember No Controlling Legal Authority? In other words, yes, we broke the rules, but there is no one who can enforce those rules, so there. Suck it.
I personally think that was part of the reason that the election in 2k was close enough for the Republicans to successfully steal it. A few voters were turned away by the perpetual scandals that surrounded the Clinton Admin. There again, enough were proven true to give the impression that the others, even if mostly false, had more than a little truth to them. The election should never have been that close. It should have been a hands down no sweat victory for our side. But Gore lost his home state, and lost a lot of other winnable states so that Florida was the deciding factor.
So I disagree, they don't need blood. The damage has been done a long time ago. The image of corrupt and conniving and scandal ridden is already fixed in the mind of the public. We can't change that. The best we can hope for is one of two outcomes. A) The Republicans nominate someone even more scandal ridden. That means Christie or Rick Perry. B) The public decides that four years of perpetual scandals will be more entertaining than the look at me class of crap that passes for reality shows today.
If it is B, then forget trying to accomplish anything, because the White House will be described as embattled while Hillary is doing the victory lap of the inauguration balls. By the time the Oval Office gets decorated, the congressional investigations into various scandals will be well into double digits. Press releases of various damaging information will be on a cycle never before seen.
