WWE trainer Bill DeMott resigns amid allegations of racist, homophobic behavior

WWE trainer Bill DeMott has resigned as head coach of WWE’s Performance Center, effective immediately. DeMott made the announcement via Twitter on Friday afternoon, amid allegations from several former WWE wrestlers claiming he propagated an atmosphere of abuse and harassment that included him freely using racist and homophobic slurs.

“I deny the recent allegations made about me, however, to avoid any embarrassment or damage to the WWE, I’ve decided to step down from my role effective immediately,” the tweet reads.

“We accepted Bill DeMott’s resignation,” WWE said in a statement emailed to The Washington Post. The company chose not to comment on the ongoing allegations.

I've kept up with this story for a while since some similar allegations were made a few years ago. It's about time this asshole was gone.

Fifteen years ago this might have been ignored, but since they're now publicly traded they don't want too much embarrassing publicity.

Ricky Steamboat also works in their developmental facility, and he's very popular with talent and management too.

I'm not sure how he's managed to stick around this long. It's not like Demott was known for getting great crowd reactions or good matches and he's certainly not imparting any great insights to the recent graduates from WWE developmental that weren't long time independent wrestlers.

Demott was a mid-card talent at best, and I can't see what he has to offer to trainees. He's a gifted athlete, but I don't think he was ever a particularly talented worker.
