IMMEDIATELY AFTER LAUNCHING EFFORT TO SCUTTLE IRAN DEAL, SENATOR TOM COTTON TO MEET WITH DEFENSE CONTRACTORS03/09/2015 6:18 PM

Tomorrow, 24 hours later, Cotton will appear at an Off the Record and strictly Non-Attribution event with the National Defense Industrial Association, a lobbying and professional group for defense contractors.
The NDIA is composed of executives from major military businesses such as Northrop Grumman, L-3 Communications, ManTech International, Boeing, Oshkosh Defense and Booz Allen Hamilton, among other firms.
Cotton strongly advocates higher defense spending and a more aggressive foreign policy. As The New Republics David Ramsey noted, Pick a topic Syria, Iran, Russia, ISIS, drones, NSA snooping and Cotton can be found at the hawkish outer edge of the debate During his senate campaign, he told a tele-townhall that ISIS and Mexican drug cartels joining forces to attack Arkansas was an urgent problem.'
On Iran, Cotton has issued specific calls for military intervention. In December he said Congress should consider supplying Israel with B-52s and so-called bunker-buster bombs both items manufactured by NDIA member Boeing to be used for a possible strike against Iran.

(82,849 posts)After all, he followed the commands he was given, and even got 46 of his Senate colleagues to sign on (literally). Time to collect his reward and get his next set of marching orders. Off the record, of course.

(23,091 posts)These Repug seditionists, it's always about the $$ for war and oil, that's all they really care about. They don't care about private education, they just want to make it so that only the rich get any real education whatsoever. They don't care about gay marriage, it's just a ploy to get the fundie vote. They do care about abortion, don't want to stop the flow of low wage worker bees and again keeping the fundie vote. As far as the morality of it, pfft, they could care less.

(959 posts)Bullshit! Mitch McConnell is quite experienced. So are some of the other signers of this piece of garbage. It's all of them and they deserve every bit of ridicule and derision aimed their way. I hope this tsunami squashes all of them

(8,812 posts)And guess what: Both Republicans and Democrats engage in this despicable behavior. The Republicans, as usual, do it more often and are just more brazen about it. (Being a sociopath means never having to say you're sorry.)
By the way, I thought "we" were supposed to revile The Intercept as some sort of shameless libertarian rag and home to the Third Way's bête noire, Glenn Greenwald. I guess we drag them out from under the bus when it serves our purposes, eh?
LiberalLovinLug
(14,173 posts)The "we" you are referring to is only a small loud frightened minority on here. The "Rahm Democrats" that feel uncomfortable when they look around at all the liberal "fucking retards" that actually respect news organizations that are not afraid to publish important and relevant stories, like The Intercept

(95,337 posts)Because I don't recall voting for the asshole, I know that much.
So why does he think he should be meeting and making any decisions with Defense Contractors.
The GOP is forcing a war without any presidential intervention and this is utter BULLSHIT.

(1,539 posts)Age eligible voters in the US is around 235 million people. Tom Cotton received 478 thousand votes in becoming Senator.
This is 0.02% of eligible voters. Yet he feels perfectly content on undermining the President, the will of the American people, and five close Allied Nations.
This may not rise to treason, but it does reflect incredibly reckless and bad judgement.... a hallmark of the Republican Party.
