The SAE frat may be bad, but Kappa Alphas are not any better.

When I was in school, they were openly known as racist mooks. They had a big to-do every year where they dressed up as the Old South and I guess pretended they had money and manners. They were pretentious bigots.

I could not stand any of them. Supposedly they have calmed down by orders from the national group, but I would like to know what they are really up to. I'll bet not one thing has really changed.

One drunk KA told me they were going to lead a secession movement. I told him Lincoln and Lee were dead and the only movement he would have would be in his bowels.

Meh! Losers!

They never appealed to me - but then again if I had joined a frat and made all those connections and contacts maybe I'd be a lot happier person today.

I had two jobs, a wife and daughter, and carried at least 15 units every semester. I was a volunteer fireman and a veteran and I was almost 26 years old when I graduated.

I had a brother of my own and the last thing I wanted was 100 fake "brothers" with whom I had absolutely nothing in common. It just seemed awfully artificial and childish IMO.

the Kappa Alpha Order had its only active Chapter above the Mason-Dixon at my under-graduate University. Ironically, its name is similar to the name of the predominately Fraternity of which I am a member. This led to a number of uncomfortable occasions, as visiting members of their fraternity saw the name on our house and thought they were welcome.
