The tattoo site Get Better Life recently picked the five best female tattoo artists in the U.S., and Omaha's Jen Beirola made the list.

The owner of Grinn and Barrett, 3021 Leavenworth St., Beirola started to learn her trade while serving in the U.S. Air Force. She spent most of her term at Offutt Air Force Base.

She has won awards for her work and been the subject of several tattoo magazine profiles. She's known for her tattoos' vibrant colors and her photorealistic portraits. We wrote about Beirola last year.

The Get Better Life article also lists among its top 5 female tattoo artists: Kat Von D, of the reality show "LA Ink"; Pat Fish, of Santa Barbara, California; Kate Hellenbrand; and Margaret Moose, of Hickory, North Carolina.
