Griddle test

One of Mom’s kitchen tricks involved sprinkling a few drops of water on the hot griddle. If those drops skittered and danced around, the surface was just right for making pancakes. Nowadays, it seems that Republicans test their newbies in much the same way.

Used to be that you had to be around a while, had to get your sea legs before they let you take the lead on anything on the national stage. In the last few years we’ve watched in amazement the fastdance stylings of Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, and Ted Cruz. Now their latest skitterage is presented by one Tom Cotton, and he’s managed to bring a bunch of non-newbies to bounce around on the griddle with him.

It might be time to stay away from the Senate cafeteria, the pancakes are likely to be undone and kinda runny.
