Do the Federal ACA subsidies if a state doesn't offer it, expire in 2017? (Original Post) still_one Mar 2015 OP
My understanding is that the subsidy (tax cut) is recalculated each tax year. Not halted. pinto Mar 2015 #1

i.e. So this year's subsidy would "expire" at year's end but continue as recalculated for the next tax year.

(disclaimer) I may be off on the details, though, so a suggestion for up to date info - IRS, DHHS, and the Kaiser Foundation (which has a great list of info on the ACA). Always best to go to the most reliable source, as they say. And Kaiser has a great track record for accurate, detailed, user friendly tools.

were the case, which I would hope it isn't, because 87% of the folks on the ACA need those subsidies, then why would they even bring the case of subsidies before the SC if they were to expire in 2017?

I will check out Kaiser FAQ, thanks

after 2017.

The first 3 years the federal government pays 100%.

Hard to get a better deal than that.

That is my understanding.

Please correct me if I am incorrect.

I am assuming the Feds will pick up the tab, and bill the states for it, but I don't know either. Could've interesting, I hope not too interesting though
