Draft Al Franken

Love Jerry Brown but he is wrong. The Democrats need to have a charismatic line up of nominees in order to generate interest in the election. And I can think of no Dem more charismatic than Al Franken. If he is at the debates, the networks will compete to see who gets to air them. They will accept any Democratic demands as to format. They will forget that their job is the make all the Dems look bad and instead treat it as a friendly, fun event.

If Al Franken runs, he will immediately attract tons of West Coast and East Coast entertainment industry money. He will not have to solicit donations from politically suspect corporations. He will be able to remain "pure".

If he runs, we all win, whether he "wins" or "loses" the nomination.

Run, Franken, run!

I asked him last year, personally. His exact words in response were, "No way." It's not his goal. He likes being in the Senate, and will not be seeking the office of President. He's doing a great job in the Senate, representing the state of Minnesota. I'm certain that he will actively support and campaign for the eventual nominee, though, and will be an asset to the candidate's campaign.
