Did you know the President Obama stole the idea of his first book "Dreams of My Father," which
is his own autobiography as a young man and that he personally snubbed Bibi Netanyahu by not
inviting him to the White House after he had come to America to see his friends? Well, now you
do.
Yesterday, I was working at a small office where I take care of the grounds planting some spring
flowers in some large planters and a sweet little old lady who always has stopped by to say "hi"
and chat and tell me how much she enjoys the plantings told me those things along with how those
black people in that town in Missouri were acting so bad now that one of their own was President.
I asked her if she watches "The Fox News," and she said yes.
what I was planting .... if you care

I know I should not have lost my temper w/the sweet little old lady but she told me
that crap after I had said that I had worked for Obama. Now the President hasn't
done everything I have wanted but still he has done the best job as President I have
seen in my lifetime and I have grown really tired of all the crap and lies he has to
take.

If they're old white men like me more times than not they admit that they listen to the drug addled pedophile too, be surprised how often glen beck or alex jones figures in this too.

But the money, media and lack of scruples behind the modern Republican party is daunting.
I get pissed at elected Dems just as most all DU'ers do, but when you look at what is behind the opposition, it boggles the mind.

(31,849 posts)I've found the opposite ... I heard folks saying this crap and ask if they watch/listen to fox and the answer is "No. I don't watch fox."
But, then again ... whenever I ask what their source of news is, they have a Katie Kouric(sp?)/$I$ter $arah moment ... "I listen to lots of news!"

I have no explanation for why people cannot tell they are being manipulated to harm themselves. It is an insidious form of propaganda and marketing by starting with a confirmation of their own biases.
Thank you for the beautiful picture and for making these tiny gardens so beautiful.

(5,997 posts)His prior teevee spent so many hours tuned to Faux that their rotating cube logo was burned into the lower left corner of the screen.
I mentioned how I'd enjoyed watching the Ken Burns' "The Roosevelts" and he immediately declared "Roosevelt was a monster" who had lengthened/worsened the great depression by failing to let the "free market" work things out on their own.
He's also parroted such rubbish as Reagan was our greatest president, Obama is a Socialist and, ironically, unions are to blame for our economic woes.
When I mentioned that we've had 60-consecutive months of private sector job growth, he scoffed and fired back with the tangentially-related labor force participation rate talking point.

(9,610 posts)They listen to limpballs, faux, glen blech, etc. They see all the negative going on about those sources, so are trying to distance themselves. They claim to be independent and only are looking to ensure the constitution is followed. They are typically gun humping, Obama hating, bigoted, racist, tea party nut jobs, who have listened to right wing hate media for decades. They can't turn back the clock and change that now.

(16,296 posts)How one leaps from expressing the delight in seeing such flowers to politics. "Such beautiful flowers. Look at their little faces. Like children . Speaking of children, who have fathers, did you know Obama's Dreams of our Father----" Seems like such people have a pimple that is festering which needs to be popped and will just jump on anyone to rant and rave. Can't hold all those hours of watching Fox without it having an outlet, I guess.

She really is a sweet little old lady who likes birds, flowers, going on walks, and volunteering by reading
to little kids so I was sadden by her thoughts and angered by those who knowingly lied to put those nasty
ideas in her brain.

What a gorgeous photo, BTW. Really brightened my morning!

Not usually one with quick retorts, I replied that boy howdy, he had really drunk the Fox news kool aid.
Being even more slow-witted than me, he had no response.
Apparently the neighborhood has outed me for my leftist leanings ...

(17,656 posts)The percentage of "consistently conservative" viewers who say that their main source for "news about government and politics" is Fox News is 47%!!!
Quoted from the Boise Weekly, February 25 - March 3 edition, Volume 23, Issue 36.
That is sad.
But, that is what we face as a nation in this political environment.

(92 posts)I really do not know what to write about this that would not end up being an insult to so many people. Fox news is one of the worst news sources to trust. There are worse online sources but Fox News in my opinion is not any better. In fact, I try to make it a habit to research any news report myself because over the years the media has often, intentionally mislead the public for the sake of ratings. Fox news just seems to do it more often than not.

(92 posts)I have experienced this far to often. A lot of the time, it is coming from my daughters who heard it from a teacher or another family member. I usually know the source is FOX News because I often frequent their stories (and they are just that, stories) to hear what truth they are twisting at the moment. I tell my wife that you can get the news from Fox as long as you stop paying attention after 10 seconds. If the average person would research some of their news topics themselves, they would see the truth. Fox news is not trustworthy.

(362 posts)so you imagine the comments I hear. Last week a neighbor told me that ""she heard that there is now a "rule" that parents are now responsible financially if their children don't work."" She further explained that it means that if your adult children refuse to work, you as parent have to pay. When I asked her how that would work, she had no idea. Would this last forever? If my adult child goes on welfare at age 50 and I am 80, do I still have to pay?
She said she didn't know, but her husband had heard that ..... on Fox News.
