The index case the person who introduced the disease into the park has not been identified. But according to NPR, state officials have confirmed 133 cases related to the outbreak since late last year.
According to the researchers, people exposed to the illness came from areas where the vaccination rate was between 50 and 86 percent. Typically, at least 96 percent of a community must be vaccinated for MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) in order to maintain herd immunity.

(14,337 posts)If anti-vaxxer parents are responsible, these parents must be very OLD parents to have adult children. No?

(14,337 posts)I HAD all of them as a kid. No, I will NOT get titers done just to PROVE that to anybody. OR get those vaccinations to satisfy anyone either. Unlike parents with little children, I am an ADULT and can refuse to give my consent for any medical procedure for MYSELF.
Oh, government recognizes that extremely low adult vaccinations is far more of problem than children. How do they intended to force ADULT vaccinations? They cannot keep them out of public school or call Child Protective Services.

Scroll down to the link on the plan. Public Comments on the plan (will they even listen?) have been extended from the earlier date. I wonder WHY?

(92,168 posts)Frankly, you can do whatever you want, but it is not a coincidence that whooping cough, and other childhood diseases are becoming a real problem in California. Also, if someone plans to send their kids to public school, and they haven't been vaccinated, unless there is a good medical reason such as allergies etc., then it is irresponsible behavior
Gee, Polio just went away on its own. Didn't have anything to do with the vaccine. Same with smallpox.

(14,337 posts)Supposedly, only the USA. Problem with one? Adults getting on planes and going overseas, e.g., Phillipines and Germany.
Second, you are aware that public school STAFF are not required to submit their vaccination records? I worked in public schools in two different states. Not required. They offered that Hep B vaccination at orientation for staff, but in both states nobody VOLUNTEERED to take it. Ever read about all those nurses refusing their flu shots? Lawsuits going on for that one. If they are having problems forcing these on adults in certain occupations, imagine for the general public?
Tricky problem with informed concent with adults.

(92,168 posts)That come from?
Polio is still around also, look at Egypt and other areas of the world where there haven't been vaccinations
Ever hear of Henreita Lax? She died of cancer of the cervix that was due to HPV. There was no vaccine then. Today there is.
I have seen nurses not wash their hands either
You see I believe in evidence based science
