Netanyahu's third term win. A very sad day both for I/P and the world.

Netanyahu is nothing to me but an Israeli duplicata of GWB and his creepy team of fanatics and criminal.
And I really wonder how he did "won " his third tenure as he was given defeatend since long. Yestuday first exit polls gave the center leftys winner. And then suddendly Bibi clails victory? It really sounds an Israeli remake of WH 2000.... I have really hight doubts since Bibi is knows for his far right inclinations and his corruption. Dont you DUers?

Just as some of America is RW teabaggers, and some of Britain is Daily Mail- and Sun-reading mean-spirited neo-Thatcherite xenophobes, and too often they win.

But there are many in Israel who will be very sad at the result; unfortunately not quite enough at present.

in the US.

Israel is where Alabama was in the 1950's. Like Alabama then, it is not capable of reforming itself without being strong-armed by outsiders.

Israel has chosen the one-state solution. So, now it's apartheid which at some point in a few generations will lead to the dissolution of the Jewish state.

And given what Israel has become, that day should come sooner rather than later.

Liberal Israelis are more than welcome here in New York, now that they have lost the fight for the country's soil to the settlers and bigots and fascists.

of America practiced it. So there are many parallels. There are huge differences between different parts of Israel as well.

I think Israel still has a window of opportunity, to avoid the one-state non-solution (apartheid/ civil war/ survival as another Lebanon at best, not surviving at all at worst). But it can't wait 100 years, perhaps not 10.

Netanyahu is a dangerous leader; and he is influenced by even worse people.

Most depressing. The Israeli left and centre now face the fight of their lives.

ethnic cleansing.

If they don't allow for two states, the only other choice BiBi gives is to rid the country of Palestinians, who have also been there for millenniums. I can't believe that most Jews agree with him enough to vote for him, but their problem is complicated because of their fear of Iran and their desire for 2 states to have that peace so long desired... what to do, what to do?

Hope he doesn't come back for another visit.

I feel sorry for the residents of Israel, both peace-loving Jewish and Arab.

Their solution is to put the Palestinians in open air prisons.

you know that bibi will keep up his mean streak and become bolder in the process up to a point that there will be an uprising, if not by the Israeli themselves then by other countries to the atrocities that nutherinyahu brings to the table and he finally will be neutered for good. He'll keep pushing you can bet on that and he will see his winning due to his latest racist push so he'll be emboldened to continue. In fact if history shows us anything about him it shows us he is a person suffering from little mans syndrome who is not very intelligent. Bluster yes, mean yes, smart no. IMO

I believe at this moment in history the miscreants can get any result they want in an election—worldwide.

Wasn't there a practice during the Reagan years to interfere in elections, especially in Central and South American to get corporate favorable governments in place?

I swear if we could just ship these two off to another planet somewhere and let them fight each other we'd be in better shape. Lots of love to both the Israeli and Palestinian people - the normal average people - who just want to work, study, and hang out with their friends/families. It is so, so sad that a deal cannot be brokered to get some relief. No one is winning currently and it is heart breaking.

Pay attention to what just happened in Israel. The 2016 election will be about abject racism and fear-mongering because... it wins.

We progressives and liberals have to get out of our comfy chairs and hit the streets. Posting witty sarcastic threads and signing e-petitions is not going to cut it. Passivity is dead and if we don't learn... we may be dead too, both as an ideology and an actuality.
