Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region Forumsvoting should be a basic right.. even prisoners should be allowed to vote.
The argument in favor of that proposition is that people become 'law breakers' because law might not working for them.. The sentencing rules for crack cocaine vs powder cocaine is a prime example ... If prisoners were allowed to vote .. That unfair rule would surely come under greater pressure than it currently does.

(114,904 posts)3. In my state, prisoners do have the vote. And there has never been a problem such
as you describe- despite state prisons being located near small towns.
Vermont and Maine are the only 2 states that allow felons to vote. In Vermont, even "outsourced" felons can vote.
