The latest tallies indicate that Likud will claim 29 or 30 seats in the 120-seat Knesset, against just 24 for the center-left Zionist Union alliance; pre-election polls had suggested that the Zionist Union was on track to win more seats than Likud. Combining with smaller rightist and Orthodox parties, Netanyahu is well-positioned to form a right-wing coalition in the coming days.

The polarizing prime minister’s victory followed a campaign in which he vowed that there would be no Palestinian state if he remained in power, and came just hours after he warned right-wing voters that “Arab voters are coming out in droves to the polls.” Moreover, Netanyahu badly damaged relations with the Obama administration after he delivered a bombastic congressional address on March 3 denouncing the international negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program.

Netanyahu undoubtedly outperformed expectations, but his path to a fourth term in power came at a heavy price. That didn’t much bother conservative Twitter, however, which gloated in the hours after it became clear that Netanyahu would remain premier. Here’s a sampling of the right’s crowing, which ranged from the crude and crass to the simply snarky.

target us because we are so far away. But Israel in right there in the neighborhood. And even if Israel has nukes they put themselves in real danger by using them in their own back yard. I am very surprised that Israel has not been hit already in our long wars in the ME. They are the natural target that is accessible to their enemies in the ME.

14. Not so dumb - they are allies. And their nukes can reach us. A nuclear war is unthinkable but I am

not sure if Israel believes that. I don't know how many times I have heard it said that they can take care of themselves because they have a nuke. And unlike Iran they have not signed the treaty agreeing to stop building them.

When I was young they told us to put our heads under the desk. Then they told us to build shelters. Then we started seeing these maps that showed how far out from a bomb you had to be so that the radiation would not effect you.

Today I have a different question for the war mongers - how does a nuclear bomb set off anywhere in the world effect climate change?

maybe all these teabaggers should move away from the "Muslim" Obama and move to Israel. I would be personally willing to accept a tax increase to fund whatever they need (shipping expenses, new houses, airline tickets, immigration paperwork, etc), so they can all move to Israel. That's right, it won't cost them a penny, all on the taxpayers. So what reason should they have to say no?
