It has been over 70 years since he voluntered for Uncle Sam right after Pearl...


He was my dad's step brother. To them there was no step. As long as I can remember he was the most loved on my dad's side. Impressive considering dad had over a dozen younger siblings during the Great Depression between two families.

I've just learned my uncle can't remember my generation of my family. He goes in and out of remembering mom and dad.

But he has not forgotten the horrors of war. He has been fighting WWII over and over again audibly the last couple weeks.

His time is short.

I hope to be in good enough shape to travel when he shows up for roll call standing with with buddies long gone.
