Sean Penn: Bush, Cheney 'created' ISIS

Actor Sean Penn on Wednesday night blamed former President George W. Bush and former Vice President Dick Cheney for creating the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

“These are the guys, he and President Bush and some others, who invented Daesh, or ISIS,” Penn said, using the Arabic name for the terror group, on TBS's "Conan."

“I mean, they really are that which created it, and so I wanted to give him a shout-out," he added of Cheney. "Thanks for that.”
Penn also called Cheney an “embittered bacteria of humanity” and wondered how the vice president, who has struggled with heart disease, is still alive.

“It’s always a surprise to me to remember that, through bionic technology and so on, this guy’s still here,” Penn said.

“We have people like Harvey Milk, who were beautiful, brilliant, impactful guys, and, you know — it’s just no good deed goes unpunished, and then you’ve got the Cheneys. This is just me musing.”

I'm not saying GWB and Darth Cheney didn't **** things up pretty bad. But the reality is, what is now ISIL was in existence in 1999. And the roots of modern political Islam goes back at least to the founding of the Muslim Brotherhood in 1928.

Please strive for a bit more accuracy, Sean.

Now it's quite some squalling brat.
But never fear, the USA is going all out for "regime change" in Syria, supporting "moderate rebels". Y'know, just sorta like feedin' the fire.

Way to go.

The Afghan's did the dirty work in bringing down the USSR, with our promises and munitions. We nurtured the fundamentalism what was there to encourage Afghan soldiers we trained to fight against the Soviets. Gave them munitions, made promises and all was forgotten\swept under the rug until it blew back on us in 2001.
We gave them inspiration and they used what we fostered against us later. SP is right. What has come after 9\11 is us killing the children and family members (who were educated in madras rather than in the schools we promised) of soldiers who we trained in the 80s. Terrorism existed before Bush\Cheney. But, it festered and and has thrived with their wars.
