I was up late one night perusing Petfinder. We didn't need another dog; we already had two beautiful, spoiled springer spaniels. Suddenly two little balls of black and white fur caught my eye, and I was smitten. I immediately submitted an application, and after a long conversation the very next day with the woman running the adoption agency, was told that I could have first pick of the two boys. They had been rescued from an Amish puppy mill in Indiana.
I eagerly went to the adoption fair that Saturday and spent quite a while watching the brothers interact with the other puppies, the other people petting them, and noted how they reacted when I held them. After 45 minutes, I was approached by a woman who said, "Have you decided which puppy you want? We will take the other one."
I pointed to the one I had already mentally named Dickens, and said, "I want that one." The woman and her two children shrieked with glee as they had fallen in love with Dickens' brother. Two families went home extremely happy that Fourth of July afternoon.
That was almost six years ago, and I have never once regretted my late night decision. We still have three beautiful, spoiled dogs: one 13-year-old female springer, a newly adopted female 5-year-old Cavalier, and Dickens. He is my shadow and my joy. I don't even need to put a leash on him as he is never more than six feet away from me inside or outside. As you can see, he would really like to accompany me everywhere even when I travel! Dickens is definitely "my boy!"

Her PC crashed beyond a simple repair. She had to do a factory restore. She uses it for work from home (she is in IT) and has been putting it all back together since about the last 24 hours.
