'We shoot people': Maryland police officer indicted on assault charges
Associated Press in Upper Marlboro, Maryland
Friday 20 March 2015 20.41 GMT
A police officer in Maryland has been indicted on assault charges after prosecutors say he held a gun to the head of a man who hadnt committed a crime.
Police and prosecutors announced Friday that a grand jury indicted officer Jenchesky Santiago on charges including first-degree assault and misconduct in office. The Prince George County officer had been suspended with pay since police began investigating the incident last June, and now is suspended without pay.
According to prosecutors, Santiago was on patrol in a Bowie neighborhood last May and told two men that they were parked illegally outside a home when they werent. The driver explained that he was dropping off his cousin, prosecutors said. Santiago ordered that man, who had been walking toward his house, to return to the car.
When the man failed to return, Santiago blocked him from entering his home, pulled his service weapon and held it against the mans head, prosecutors said. Santiago also pointed the gun at the mans mouth, prosecutors said.
According to authorities, he also threatened the men and said: Were PGPD; we shoot people.

You would think that just by seeing what is happening in other departments throughout the nation that officers would clean up their acts. I truly find myself believing that many police departments are staffed by sociopaths that have been handed weapons and power.

Is other departments getting away with this stuff.
So no need, really to clean up.
Reform isn't going to come from within the police.
