I've often wondered about why the American people as an aggregate have progressively gotten more ignorant and ill-informed. Here's the question:

Is it because we're so busy consuming things and being distracted by lowbrow 'entertainment,'

OR

Is it because the 'news' gave up any ethic of truth and accuracy when they got sucked into the ratings game?

I mean, let's say there was a wormhole and Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite suddenly returned and began reporting the news as it was done in their day. You think Americans would be interested? I do.
