from Kirsten Gillibrand, supporting Donna Edwards for Senator in Maryland:

Ellen,

I am thrilled to announce my support for Donna Edwards for U.S. Senate in Maryland – and I know that if our grassroots team rallies behind her, she will win.

Electing Donna would mean adding another strong, principled progressive woman to the Senate. And right now, we have an incredible opportunity to make a real, immediate impact for Donna’s campaign: Off The Sidelines will MATCH ALL donations until midnight tonight, up to $10,000, to support Donna Edwards!

Click here to give $5 or more now, and Off The Sidelines will match your gift to support Donna Edwards for U.S. Senate!

If we are going to help Donna win and take back our Senate, here is the first thing you need to know: Donna is a real force for change.

The co-founder and first executive director of the National Network to End Domestic Violence, Donna was critical in securing the passage of the 1994 Violence Against Women Act.

She was the first House member to propose a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United and take elections back from corporations.

Donna is a champion in the fight for after-school nutrition programs and protecting women’s reproductive health care.
I know in my core that Donna is the right person to succeed my dear friend and mentor, Sen. Barbara Mikulski. But Donna has a tough primary fight ahead and can only win if this team of progressives rallies behind her now.

That is why Off The Sidelines will match every gift – up to $10,000 – to get Donna off to the strong start she needs to win. The only thing missing now? You.

Join me in this exciting moment by giving now – before midnight – to support Donna Edwards and take back our Senate:

If you've saved payment info with ActBlue Express, your donation will automatically be evenly split between Donna Edwards and Off The Sidelines PAC:

Click to donate $5.

Click to donate $25.

Click to donate $50.

Or click here to donate another amount.

When we come out strong in support of progressive women, we can make a real difference. Thank you for standing with me today in support of Donna!

Kirsten

Issues I would still cast a vote if she was in my state. She apparently has served well in the House and would be an asset in the Senate.

And I'm really torn between Edwards and Van Hollen. Both are excellent legislators and good progressives. I'll probably vote for Edwards because 1) she's my Rep and 2) she's a woman, and we need more women in the Senate.

and also torn. Just officially moved into Van Hollen's district, but recognizing his close ties with the Dem 'establishment,' and what I think are her stronger progressive inclinations, I'm leaning toward Edwards.

6. Volunteer Registry Coming!

I got a call from the campaign staff. They are getting an overwhelming number of people who want to volunteer, so they are setting up a registry. The way it will work is that if you sign up, you'll get an e-mail inviting you to volunteer, with a link to the volunteer page. Their hope is to put together activities that are local for people.

The e-mail is in the works, and they said it will be ready in the next few days. So I'll repost the website then once I know it works.
