"Pay Any Price" by James Risen - today's book recommendation

A truly horrifying account of what this country has become in the last 13 years, including a thorough evaluation of what never changed, and was in fact reified, after the Chimp 'n' Cheney gang left town.

Essential reading.

seen as criticizing Obama. Like Snowden's NSA revelations, Obama is, in a way, irrelevant. The partisanship keeps most people distracted and angry at the wrong stuff.

Have not read it as yet, I suspect none of it will be surprising to me.

because all they can see is that it makes Obama look bad. That seems to be their starting point - like oh, I know the TPP and the NSA overreach are bad, but criticizing them is an attack on Obama. Those crappy corporate "trade" agreements come from a line of presidents, and not one of them will or can stand up to the corporations. Because money and power.

I just want to be on record as saying that there's nothing wrong or inappropriate (or inaccurate) about criticizing Obama.

He's earned it.

You may not be surprised at the big picture, but you will certainly be more even more appalled and enraged than you already are about the situation.

Your point about the partisanship is right on.

What happened to the guy who gave Risen a lot of the information?
I thought I heard that Risen had to give his name due to a court decision.
