Legendary NBA player Charles Barkley called upon the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) to move its national semifinal and championship tournament rounds out of Indiana after the state passed a controversial law that critics say sanctions discrimination against LGBT people on religious grounds.
Discrimination in any form is unacceptable to me, Barkley said in a statement to USA Today on Friday. As long as anti-gay legislation exists in any state, I strongly believe big events such as the Final Four and Super Bowl should not be held in those states cities.
The NCAA issued its own statement on the law, expressing concern about how this legislation could affect our student-athletes and employees, but indicated no plans to change locations for the Final Four and national championship.

(33,208 posts)I completely agree.
Won't happen, but it should.
I look forward to protests during the games.

(7,290 posts)Don't schedule anything else there, and cancel anything that's further out, but one week's notice isn't much time to move this event.

(7,290 posts)And Charles Barkley is one of the commentators for the pre-game/halftime show. If he's scheduled to fulfill that role during the Final Four, he could make a statement by refusing to participate.
