Indianapolis mayor (R) wants legislation to prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation.

Mayor Ballard held a press conference around 2:30 p.m. to discuss the city’s response to RFRA. The mayor called for Governor Pence and the Indiana legislator to fix the law. “Forty years of history as one of the most hospitable places in America should not be placed in jeopardy because of this act,” said Mayor Ballard.

The mayor also wanted to make sure that those traveling to the Final Four know that they do not have to worry about discrimination. “For those traveling here for the Final Four, let me be clear: Indy welcomes all. These teams have worked hard to get here and we will give them the same Indianapolis experience the world has come to expect.”

I might send an e-mail to the mayor and thank him for his sanity.

there is nothing particularly politically expedient for him. No agenda. Just recognizing the damage this is causing (and he did lobby prior to the passage of the law) - and standing firm.

Think about this - in essence when he stated "Discrimination is wrong." He was wagging his finger at the legislature and governor (all fellow republicans)
