Pence: "Obamacare made me do it"

Are you fucking kidding me?

http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/pence-pins-need-indiana-religious-freedom-law-obamacare-n332926

"I abhor discrimination. I believe in the Golden Rule that you should 'do unto others as you would have them do unto you. If I saw a restaurant owner refuse to serve a gay couple, I wouldn't eat there anymore."

Pence said his support for the law was driven by the 2010 Affordable Care Act, which he said "renewed concerns about government infringement on deeply held religious beliefs."

Pence cited a 2014 Supreme Court decision, Burwell v. Hobby Lobby, to back up his argument. That ruling found that federal regulations requiring religious employers to provide their female employees with free access to contraception were unconstitutional.

"Indiana's new law contains no reference to sexual orientation," Pence wrote, adding: "As governor of Indiana, if I were presented a bill that legalized discrimination against any person or group, I would veto it."

Here's Pence signing the bill, with a few of his friends, picture courtesy of GLAAD's website:

This Pence dude is either really naive, really stupid, or lying.

It doesn't really matter if he's some or all of those. Probably all three, imo.

Repeal the lousy law.

Today's Republicans!!! Compassionate conservatives.

They are targeting LGBT with a passion and they are not compassionate. They are not stopping with LGBT, they will continue on. They lost their humanity a long time ago. They lost there souls. Every damn thing they do is robotic. Everything.

They are dead inside. They are a dying breed. May they all rot in hell.

Naive to believe that we can't see his lies and stupidity. Stupid because he thinks that his religious beliefs are better than yours and mine. And lying because he knows full well that the law is meant to allow homophobes to refuse service to LGBT people. He's pathetic.

But explain this: how did Obamacare make you refuse to include an amendment stating this cannot be used to discriminate? Which is the whole problem?

The Indy Star is calling for retaining the law but adding protections against discrimination. This is far more likely than repeal. Does Obamacare somehow stand in the way of doing that?

... doesn't any religious devotee believe that his/her religion is the "true" religion, and therefore all others are false/wrong -- and therefore those other religions are, basically, populated by heathens? How can you protect the religious "freedom" of ALL of them to not facilitate the heathen activities of their coworkers and customers?

You can't enshrine in law the protection of all religious people against being offended by... all the other religious people.

Everyone said, oh it's just birth control, and it's just a few types of birth control. No big deal. But of course, it was the nose under the tent that these rwnjs wanted. Now these laws flow directly from that decision.

Fucke them all.

. . . like an infected pimple. Mike Pence is the poster child for their inability to be responsible citizens, let alone politicians. Trashing their own ideas - with no regard for truth or morality - must be a sign of mental illness or infection of the brain.

"Purge those impurities. It'll be good for you GOP!"

Mike Huckabee was beating the same drum on the Bill Maher show last week. What is this "persecution" they're suffering? It's not as if an ISIS-like group was rounding them up for slaughter. The "good Christians" should take their minds off things and go volunteer at a homeless shelter or soup kitchen. You know . . . the old feed the hungry, heal the sick stuff from their manual (the Bible).

24. Supreme Court republicans ignored the constitution
Tue Mar 31, 2015, 06:51 PM

The Supreme Court decision for Burwell v. Hobby Lobby was wrong. The five "bought and paid for republican" justices made a political decision to support their puppet masters and ignored the constitution. In their ruling they even said a clearly false belief could be used as justification for denying a person their rights based on the owners "strongly held" lies.

What next, private schools able to fire a teacher because they do not support the for profit owners "belief" that the Earth is Flat.

There is no such thing as sin of course and if there was being gay would not be a sin, but you know.

The way a 9 yr old in 1970 (for instance) felt when he heard or saw a gay exchange or something, is the way these alleged adults are feeling and acting now.

I remember the day I heard Rock Hudson and Jim Nabors were gay lovers.

I was a kid, I loved Gomer Pyle and the very thought that this person I loved was gay, well I tell you, I was disturbed about it.

But I grew up.

And if my 9 yr old in 2015 was exposed to something the first time I would hope that between myself and society, it would be hardly noticeable.

in a dynamic world. Despite all of their rhetoric and masochism, they have very fragile egos. They are afraid of anything that might disrupt their fragile lives and anything true or false that might differ from the brainwashing they received from religion to support their fragile egos and giving to them a sense of purpose in their lives.

Also, there is supporting evidence that their brains are different from others. I don't have the links now, but you can find them on the internet.
