Does Indiana have a problem with discrimination against Christians? Are there hate crimes perpetrated against them from those who hate what they believe? Do the current federal and state laws somehow put Christians at risk of persecution, thereby creating a need for Religious Freedom laws at the state level?
The answer to all of those questions is no. So let's call this what it is - Indiana's Religious Freedom law gives Christian business owners the right to legally discriminate against those they judge as inferior to them, and it will be based on appearance more than anything else. Mike Pence and those who support this law can say whatever they want but it's impossible to justify. It's especially appalling they use the word freedom to further their bigoted agenda - which is, ultimately, making Christianity the law of the land. These people are Anti-Christians, for all their church-going and Jesus speak their actions are the opposite, as illustrated by the Religious Freedom law.
Several states have similar Religious Freedom bills on the docket. Let's make sure the backlash is strong enough to dissuade them from passing and force Pence to throw out his abomination.

(9,126 posts)And like the statues in Okalhoma, there will be unintended consequences. As in, other religions will claim their right to discriminate. The ONLY answer is to repeal the law. There is no "fixing" it. The law is an abomination.

(35,015 posts)The Anti-Christian movers and shakers have to include all religions in their madness, but feel it's manageable since there are such small numbers of the 'others'. They believe they'll find a way around it eventually.

That is the beginning middle and end of this conversation.
