Can someone please try to explain Texas to me?

We have a bystander with a cell phone proving that the South Carolina PD versions of a murder were all wrong. (Kudos to SC - their reactions, actions, and public statements kept that state peaceful and relatively safe. See generally, Ferguson and the Grand Police Presence)

So Texas responds how? By wanting to ban and to make illegal photos and video of cops in action?

What am I missing about that state? And the kind of people who would think along those lines?

The theme was Texas, a Whole other country.

And when you look at the laws, the politics and what they have done to schools among other things, it really is a whole other country where nothing is as it should be.

and just as the hurricane was coming across the Gulf, just as it was to hit the Texas coast, it slowed down, stopped, and then disappeared.

So much for the power of prayer.

It was introduced by Jason Villalba, but other than that I haven't heard of anyone else supporting it.

While the rest of the political right in this country is looking at the video from South Carolina and saying, "This cop has just made a bad name for every other cop in this country," one Dallas Republican in the Texas legislature has proposed a bill making filming of cops illegal for everyone but the MSM.

Texas is no different than any other state: they have a shitty selection of candidates to begin with, and choose somebody based on just about nothing. This guy is an attention whore, and just got 15 big minutes of fame.

If the legislature passes the bill, then we'll talk about "what's wrong with Texas." Right now the question is, why is Jason Villalba so fucking tone deaf?

Nothing against ordinary Texans per se, which like just about anywhere, are a mixed bag.

But there's a sick cowboy culture that governs public policy there, evidenced by the gun worship and the eagerness to execute people.

Tried to never stop in the state driving through, even in the 60s & 70s the people were so unfriendly, we chose to drive straight through.

Texas is a great place to live. Great housing prices, no state tax, very business friendly, outstanding restaurants
and cultural happenings.

I first came here in
1980 from Connecticut of all places. I couldn't BELIEVE how much friendlier and hip the people in Texas are
as opposed to those puritans in CT. (no slight intended)

I know people from Texas. Like everywhere, there are people who strongly disagree and are indeed sickened by what seems to be the local status quo. (I live in Indiana. So I know this all too well.)

But here's my thought:

Toxic fumes from the border fence??

It was one lawmaker who got negative feed back from so many Texans he dropped the bill. Article said people from the left and the right opposed it.

http://www.dallasnews.com/news/politics/state-politics/20150410-bill-to-limit-filming-of-police-activity-is-dropped.ece

The guy who introduced the bill is a dick, though. He was deleting ALL his voice mail to avoid people calling to leave him messages and deleting the same critics from social media. Wonder how many constituents' non-bill related voice mails he deleted?
