2. These companies are going to be forced to change their business model
There are disruptive technologies that exist and gaining favor with customers who are sick of the telecom giants. One example is a service for which I just signed up, Republic Wireless (which so far has been GREAT).

3. One idea to check out
"The playing field of democracy is badly tilted in favor of multi-national corporations, the Tea Party, and the one percent of Americans whose power has soared in recent years. CREDO makes it easy for ordinary people, through the everyday act of using a mobile phone, to stand up and fight for progressive social change."
I don't live in America, so I can't use this service...I would if I could...Credo Mobile |

4. An old trick!
In 1980 part of my job was to edit phone bill from the local offices (WA, OR,ID, N. CA, AK) that had been set up for the Decennial Census. Calls would only have been inside their regional office area or to headquarters. Most bills I audited had calls all over the Middle East and other international calls. The phone company threw them on the bills hoping no one would notice. Needless to say, the US government (moi) did not approve them for payment.
