They have been eroded by privatization. Profiting off of what should be a strengthening of "The Commons". A strengthening of the Public Sector.
Conservative/Libertarian answer? More privatization.

(24,392 posts)the minute Republicans were able to start "profitizing" all kinds of previous public goods/services (i.e. utilities, schools, prisons) and running their fingers through government agencies. And then they use the resulting dysfunction and dissatisfaction to advocate for even MORE "profitization"

The private sector is a dictatorship. You have no say unless you work for a collective or are in a union.
