(13,685 posts)And once again the amazing DUers have shown that they support Bernie by something like 90%!!!
That will cause consternation among some on DU who will even go so far as to mislabel us as being hypocrites because we want what is best, but then I think they are just caught up in some hilarious scheme to perpetrate the usual?

Raised by a single mom, she really struggled.
Started working at 13 to help out my mom and brother.
A woman hater I'm not.
Bernie speaks for me and mine, Hillary doesn't, it's that simple.

(46,585 posts)She had every advantage before she even took off her coat in 2008: Money, huge name recognition, the Democratic Party machinery, and take a look at those polls ... a 30 point lead. And she blew it. She didn't just lose, she pissed it away with a badly run campaign and resorting to ugly race-baiting.

(57,936 posts)help her.
In addition, as you know, she has shown poor judgment in some situations that were important for our country -- the Iraq War for one -- and she will have to answer for Bill Clinton's many mistakes in office.
Also, I don't think she really connects with people that well.
I realize that DUers will say these are irrelevant issues, but they are very relevant. Most voters do not vote based on the issues but rather vote for the candidate they like, that they find personable and feel comfortable with.
Hillary failed in comparison with Obama on these personality issues. She will also show as not as good as Bernie in terms of personal rapport with the voters who never meet her.
This is not sexist. Elizabeth Warren defeats every potential Democratic candidate when it comes to personal rapport with voters.
hrmjustin
(71,265 posts)She is her own person Thank you very much.
JDPriestly
(57,936 posts)Right now, she is ahead in the polls because people remember the Clinton years as good years for the economy. In fact, many of the seeds for our currently difficult economy grew out of the Clinon years and policies adopted during that time. The Republicans will make sure that Hillary does not avoid answering for her husband's mistakes.
We need a stronger candidate than Hillary, and Bernie is stronger. Elizabeth Warren would be great too, but so far she is not running.
The fact that Hillary is running again shows how ambitious she is. She could use a good dose of humility in her manner.
hrmjustin
(71,265 posts)To run for president you are by definition ambitious.
And if you think Sanders is strong when he won't raise the mondy he needs you are fooling yourself.

(10,479 posts)for the sins of her husband? How much longer will some of you say she is corrupt? I have admired her for quite some time and in no way consider her corrupt. She would make a very good president. Bernie Sanders would make a good president. Elizabeth Warren would make a good president. I just happen to believe in Hillary. If she is the nominee I will gladly take my 82 year old body to the voting booth and pull the lever for Hillary Clinton. It is way past time for a woman as president.

(99,708 posts)What I said is that polls indicate that 87% of African Americans have a favorable opinion of Secretary of State Clinton, ergo:

and that all the self identified African American Americans who participated in said thread had a favorable opinion of her.
A bit of friendly advice to you and Enthusiast. If you canvass African American and Latino neighborhoods for Mr. Sanders there are more effective ways of persuasion than telling them Secretary Of State Clinton is inimical to their interests, friendly advice...
I reread all my posts on this topic....Nowhere did I go further than where the empirical and anecdotal evidence took me.

Your pal called Hillary a racist...That's belied by the fact that the research indicates that 87% of African Americans have a favorable opinion of her.

Bernie, at the same time, has a stellar record on social issues including racial, gender, education, and all other issues.
Bernie is far more serious about representing our interests, yours and mine, than either Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton. Just listen to Bernie. Hear what he has to say. Read his views. You will probably find that he is a much stronger candidate than Hillary.
Bernie voted against both Iraq Wars and at the time judged very accurately the situation and explained why it was wrong for us, unwise for us, to invade Iraq.
Hillary voted for the Iraq War (the second one). She does not have the good judgment that Bernie Sanders has. If you look at their records, you will understand why Bernie is the favorite here. We are, most of us, political junkies, really well informed. That's why we like Bernie so much. He is likely to gain supporters as time passes.

(13,598 posts)Clinton and O'Malley are both likely to lose the election, I think, but Sanders would be more or less certain to.
I'd need to look in more detail than I have to tell you which of them is less unlikely to win, but that's the one I'd back - I think that with the near-certainty of a Republican-controlled congress, electability and coat-tails matter far more than policies, because policies won't get implemented no matter how good they are.

0 have selected the 1st choice - most closely aligned views
12 (4%) have chosen - best chance to win
31 (11%) have chosen - both of above
1 (0%) - other reasons
Those 12 votes for her having the best chance are swing votes by definition; thus going to the most likely candidate at election time.
With these numbers, the totals become:
HRC total votes: 32
BS total votes: 239 + 12 swing votes = 251
*only running some numbers here, no other comment, and I didnt vote

(1,884 posts)Voting for someone because you think they can win, is not only a bad idea, but is part of the reason this country is in this mess we are in. To say nothing about this country drifting ever farther to the Right every election.
If more people voted for those that most closely reflect their views on important subjects, we would win more often. But when your choice is between a (D) and (R) with the same basic positions, not so much
