He didn't know they were prostitutes--thought they were attracted to balding, paunchy old men...

Dominique Strauss-Kahn acquitted of aggravated pimping

During the trial, the three-judge panel looked at whether Strauss-Kahn was one of the organizers of sex parties involving prostitutes held in Paris, Brussels and Washington while he was head of the IMF. Strauss-Kahn and his lawyers have said repeatedly that although he indeed attended the parties, he was unaware that any of the women present were prostitutes.

Is actually the first line. Bad memory by me.

Behind the Laughter was a take off on VH1's Behind the Music where everything goes terribly wrong within a band. Very funny episode. Willie Nelson (subtitled musician/taxpayer) brings the family back together.

Prostitution is legal in France.

Pimping and procuring are not, for reasons that are directly relevant to your free will qualifier.

It's not about prostitution per se, but whether he had arranged the procurement of prostitutes for these things. Hence, his knowledge of whether they were prostitutes is relevant - not whether they were in fact prostitutes. Several of the women have testified that part of their engagement was not to disclose that they were.

to dig farther. It seems to me procuring now days means getting online and making phone calls to largely independent women who place ads, then arranging for them to be at a certain place at a certain time...as opposed to calling some pimp and having him deliver women....I could be wrong..I don't hire prostitutes

That's at the heart of this trial.

The allegations are not about whether someone hired a prostitute.

But back to your comment - France quit "caring whether someone is a prostitute" ages ago. If you did "care enough to dig into the details", or even the general notion of what he's on trial for, you'd appreciate that "caring whether someone is a prostitute" doesn't have much to do with this trial.
