Hillary's economic adviser is Joseph Stiglitz?

Whoa if true. And her other economic adviser is a Wall Street watchdog. Great choices.

-snip-

Stiglitz is advising Clinton on economic policy, and her aides have met repeatedly with Roosevelt Institute scholars and staff, including at least one session since the release of the report, according to a person familiar with the discussions.

So many great names in her coalition. In the past, Republicans have attacked her long-time aide and current Vice Chairwoman, Huma Avedin, as being supportive of the Muslim Brotherhood. I believe Huma Avedin is married to Anthony Weiner.

As far as economics, here is a recent article on Hillary and Stiglitz.

the oath is not a good point for their talking points, huh. Bernie doesn't recognize the oath either. He is the one in position to be voting on TPP, not Hillary, but some doesn't see this.

Come Nov. 9, 2016, who knows?

If he keeps the gig and gets appointed Sec. of the Treasury, I'll be a happy Democrat.

If, OTOH, he gets a nice "Thank you" and told to sit down for the likes of Larry Summers, like what happened to Stiglitz last time, I'll be sad.

elected.

I don't want to rain on Hillary supporters' parade, but Bill ran on "It's the economy, stupid," and then re-appointed Greenspan to chair the Fed.

It's what she would do once in office, not what she says she would do if elected, that counts.

This for me a cautiously good sign, but I'm stickin' with Bernie to paraphrase the old song, "I'm stickin' with the Union."

Try the Roy Kamaly version.

By the way, my dear grandmother, born I think in 1880, used to sing the same melody to the words Oh the moon shines bright on pretty Redwing . . . . Did anyone hear that song? Same melody as "I'm stickin' to the Union."

Obama, faced with the turmoil in the financial industry, appointed Geithner as Treasury Secretary and continued much of Bush's policy -- bailing out the fat cats while doing little for homeowners facing foreclosure.

At some point (before or soon after the Inauguration, I forget which), he had a dinner with Stiglitz and Paul Krugman to get their thoughts. They both told him that he was being far too generous to Wall Street and that he should consider much more progressive policies, up to and including nationalization.

He listened to them politely, thanked them for their time, and went ahead with a much more right-wing policy.

It's worth a little bit that Obama and Clinton talk with Stiglitz, considering that many of the Republican hopefuls probably don't even know who he is, let alone give him a hearing. Nevertheless, it doesn't say much about Clinton's economic policies.

I remember people getting all excited that Obama was talking to Stiglitz during the time of the bailout. Of course nothing came of it, Obama was just extending a courtesy to the other side and he went ahead and did what Summers, Rubin and Geithner wanted him to do.

Personally I think Stiglitz is far too smart to allow himself to get used like that by any political candidate.
