http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/06/18/dylann-roof-was-planning-attack_n_7616638.htmlABC reports:
He was big into segregation and other stuff, Tyler said. He said he wanted to start a civil war. He said he was going to do something like that and then kill himself.
Tyler said he met Roof, a Lexington, South Carolina native, through a good friend. He also said Roofs parents, with whom he said the suspect was on and off, had previously bought him a gun but never allowed him to take it with him until this past week.
Many of Roof's family members have repeatedly declined to comment on the 21-year-old suspect, but his friends, previous police reports and his uncle have painted a picture of a shut-in with no job and plenty of anger.
*Another snippet:
A childhood friend with whom Roof had recently become reacquainted said Roof started railing about the Trayvon Martin case in recent weeks, complaining about black people "taking over the world" and about the need for someone to do something about it for the sake of "the white race."

They tend to avoid non bigots because they get tired of answering the question "What the fuck is the matter with you?"

(31,783 posts)For example- I know today that Rick Santorum is basically egging Christians on to start killing people - because according to him - this punk killed Christians. It was all about Jesus.
Would I have to turn him in.

(38,187 posts)if the guy knew about these plans and didn't turn him in, isn't he really an accessory before the fact? I REALLY miss Jackpine Radical on days like today when I have numerous legal questions.

(17,064 posts)Were there specific details the shooter disclosed, or was it wishfull thinking? While the roommate should answer questions about why he didn't report the shooter as a threat, it may be just a matter of he thought the shooter was just talking shit, not a concrete plan.
Jamastiene
(38,187 posts)In that case, if he didn't see any concrete plans or believed the shooter was just talking shit, they probably couldn't try to charge him as an accessory before the fact then. Very good point.

(53,922 posts)If it was a 'spur of the moment' thing, it could still be terrorism, but that thought was placed into it, a target chosen, likely because of it's historical significance, only demonstrates this is really an act of terrorism directed at African-Americans.

*Unless Barber signs a death warrant, then none of that will happen. I don't even honor him with a name. He caused this:
On the morning after the mass killing at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Lisa Doctor joins a prayer circle down the street from the church. David Goldman / AP
The targeting of Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal is particularly significant given its history and symbolism. One of the people killed was Clementa Pinckney, a South Carolina state senator and Methodist pastor at the church, and the youngest African African ever elected to South Carolinas legislature. In a 2013 lecture posted on YouTube, Pinckney spoke about Emanuel A.M.E.s significance to Charleston and the nation.
Where you are is a very special place in Charleston, Pinckney said in the lecture, addressing an audience of visitors to the church...
In a nutshell, you can say that the African American churchand in particular, in South Carolinareally has seen it as its responsibility and its ministry and its calling to be fully integrated and caring about the lives of its constituents and the general community... Many of us don't see ourselves as just a place where we come and worship, but as a beacon, and as a bearer of the culture, and a bearer of what makes us a people. But I like to say that this is not necessarily unique to us; it's really what America is all about.
Could we not argue that America is about freedomwhether we live it out or notbut it really is about freedom, equality and the pursuit of happiness, and that's what church is all about. Freedom to worship, and freedom from sin, freedom to be fully what God intends us to be, and freedom to have equality in the sight of God. And sometimes you gotta make noise to do that. Sometimes, you maybe have to die, like Denmark Vesey, to do that. Sometimes you have to march, and struggle, and be unpopular to do that.

(13,616 posts)Many of the self identifying 'white" people are of English descent. Now, even if you can trace your lineage 10 generations back, England is mixed.
it is a mixture of Celts, Germans, Romans, Vikings, and anyone else the Roman Empire could import. They did a lot of that, because, according to Cicero, the Britons were too stupid to be trained as slaves. Oh yes, this does cover all of that Saxon vs Norman stuff they mentioned in Ivanhoe, as the Saxons hates those uppity french Viking Normans that conquered them in 1066.

(17,320 posts)but he didn't make up all of that crap about the blacks "taking over the world" with his own brain. Some adults, that he looks up to,
have been preaching that to him all of his life. His brain has been reduced to "mush". He has become a robot.
If this crime were to be investigated thoroughly, the adult or adults that have been programming him will come to light. It could be family members, adult friends or media personalities. The man has been totally abused mentally. But, in the end, he is still a violent racist criminal and deserves a harsh sentence.
When they question him, they should ask him if he has ever heard adults talking about "blacks taking over" and if he says "yes" than find out who they are.
