(3,813 posts)I try to be super-conscientious, and sometimes find myself signaling as I turn out of my driveway onto a rural gravel road. Yet even I, with all this proper intent, also sometimes change a lane without a signal by mistake.
Sandra Bland's life mattered. Finding the truth about her death matters. Stopping the over-policing of all America, and particularly Black America matters very very urgently.

If you fail to signal that your changing lanes eventually it could very cause an accident and its a bad habit to get into.

(15,315 posts)But that's the point of the majority of people pointing it out. The fact is most people don't get pulled over when they fail to signal changing lanes.

(15,315 posts)When you see cops on the side of the road, do you think they're checking for people not using their turn signal?

(15,315 posts)That's where the money is. It isn't worth it to waste the time to go around searching for minor infractions like that and pulling people over. It just wouldn't yield much. If someone gets pulled over for something like a lane change it was either because the cop was bored or they were looking for a reason to harass the person.

(26,276 posts)Hell I would rather see them enforcing it than busting some kids for some pot because some of the people around here just are freaking dangerous behind the wheel with the way they weave in and out of traffic without using their turn signals.

(9,214 posts)He had every right to stop her for not signalling, it didn't appear she signaled when she turned onto the road either. But all this conversation about whether he should have stopped her, or not, just diverts the attention away from his actions after he had her stopped. Maybe most don't get stopped for failure to signal but it is illegal and he had a right to stop her, continuing this argument is just a diversion.
The problem is what happened after the stop and how a person getting a warning ticket for not signaling ends up in jail for three days and even if she did commit suicide which is doubtful, why was there material in her cell that allowed her to do so. That needs to be the focus.
