I think I will make it a habit to listen everyday at 5:00, which unfortunately means I will have to miss Chuck Todd on MSNBC at that time.

(86,509 posts)I haven't had much time to look it up but plan to listen to him when I can, especially after my summer job goes away.

(9,314 posts)I really do hope I can stick to my plan to listen everyday at 5. It is quite a change, but he does have interesting guests and commentary. He had Bernie Sanders today.

(16,987 posts)link. I'm so glad that he is continuing his show in some format. I was a late convert to Ed, but when I realized (finally) that he was sincere, I also knew that his sincerity would be his demise.

(9,314 posts)This website has a subscribe feature which I signed up on. I am going to go back and try and catch some episodes I missed. I hope you get the chance to check it out. I think the further along we get with this election, the more interesting things are bound to become, and it will be great to have his take on matters.
Thanks for posting on my thread.

(2,535 posts)It carries delayed programs fo later listening. I think one program a day but not able to download is free. After that its up to 5 programs per day and all can be downloaded to your phone mp3 device. It isn't same time but it is my best option.
Samantha
(9,314 posts)but I probably won't need it for Chuck Todd's broadcast. I am not sure you are familiar with him; if not, you might want to leave it that way....
Thanks for posting on my thread.

(2,975 posts)There's an app called "beyondpod" I use consistently and it's pretty useful. I get daily doses of Big Ed, Rachels show audio, the big picture with thom hartmann, the hour long (first half hour of each hour) of TYT, and a lot more. I highly recomend it
All the shows are available for free too boot!
If you've the taste I'd also recomend Hollywood babble-on (kevin smith n Ralph garmen, expect offensive humor) or The Smartest Man in the World with Greg Proops (his weekly comedy gig threaded through with news and progressive ideals).
Never go through withdrawl again for GOOD media.

(9,314 posts)I certainly will look into it, and I thank you very much for taking the time to share this info.

(9,314 posts)If some people like Keith Olbermann, Martin Bashir, Jon Stewart, maybe even David Letterman would call in and join Ed. That would be so cool. Letterman already jumped out and said he retired too early. He seems truly regretful he has no platform from which to issue his pungent remarks.
Of course there are others from the political arena that would be great. Everyone can think of a number of people they would love to hear from on Ed's podcast.

(4,775 posts)So many of our voices are off the air!
I still need to listen to the Ed podcast with Bernie, have it up in a browser but haven't listened yet.
I never watched Ed.

(10,167 posts)But I sorely miss Ed in particular. I preferred his show in his night time slot from before, although I miss him at 4 as well. I have recently gotten used to turning on the tube for Alex and then Ed. Oh well. Joey the Scab rules out morning viewing and now afternoon and early evening are out too.

(9,314 posts)to think back to how great it was when Olbermann was on, then Rachel got a show, and we always saw intelligent guests (as Chris Hayes was then), Martin Bashir was on -- and now what? Just stupid and more stupid (or perhaps I should use that phrase "dumb and dumber" commentary.
And try to imagine when 2016 moves into sharp focus toward election day, the commercials we will see funded by the various Koch-funded PACs. Well, I for one will not see them because I won't be watching. However, there is no underestimating the power and influence these commercials funded by the Republican sponsors will make on the viewing public. I saw this first-hand in Maryland when Brown, who was running for Governor against Hogan, a Republican no less, was completely overwhelmed by non-stop commercials endorsing Hogan. Keep in mind Maryland has only had two Republican governors in the last 50 years -- but surprise, surprise, Hogan won.
The only good thing I can say is that Maryland has now switched to paper ballots -- I wonder why so at least nothing can be changed remotely and if necessary a genuine hand recount can be conducted. I wish I could say that about a number of other states....
We are at a tipping point now where we really need there will be a huge turnout in 2016 for people supporting the progressive slate, meaning Democrats, Independents and some Republican defectors, to wash away the Koch influence and seek a return to citizen control. If that does not happen in this next election, the fallout will be such as we probably will never have a true opportunity again to take back our government.
