Roseburg, Oregon (CNN)The gunman who opened fire at Oregon's Umpqua Community College singled out Christians, according to the father of a wounded student.
Before going into spinal surgery, Anastasia Boylan told her father the gunman entered her classroom firing.
"I've been waiting to do this for years," the gunman told the professor teaching the class. He shot him point blank, Boylan recounted.
The gunman, while reloading his handgun, ordered the students to stand up and asked if they were Christians, Boylan told her family.

(5,330 posts)The shooter was probably a Christian himself and actually thought he was sending people to heaven.
He clearly had some mental issues.
What a sick puppy.

(11,101 posts)but the same kind of story came out of Columbine and the religious right still uses it to show they are martyrs, despite the fact that it wasn't true. While it may very well be true in this case, I'd like to see more confirmation. Whether he did or not, trying to find rationality in the acts of a crazy person is generally a wasted effort.

(58,724 posts)Two different survivors of the attack (one via a parent) have indicated that he singled out Christians. While it is certainly possible that this is not true, it is worth noting that there are two independent sources reporting this.
