Minneapolis changes signs for Lake Calhoun to reflect Dakota name

OCTOBER 3, 2015 — 8:50AM

Minneapolis Park and Recreation employees .. prepared .. new signs .. around Lake Calhoun .. with the lake’s Dakota name, Bde Maka Ska. The signs were updated, though the lake’s name hasn’t been changed, “to honor the Dakota people and educate the public” ... The board's legal counsel has advised that it has no authority to change the lake's name.
