So Sam Smith thinks the democrats should shut up about the gun issue until after the elections
His thinking is it will galvanize the gun nuts to the polls and vote in droves.

1. This guy?
Why do I (we) care what a British pop singer thinks about gun control in America and the proper course of political action for Democrats? |

5. Absolutely, Positively no question in my mind
In my area of the state anyway.
This is a huge issue in Rural Wisconsin. Also please remember it was only two years ago in Colorado (after Sandy Hook) that there were successful recall elections for gun controls that passed. Colorado went for the Dems in the last Presidential election, will it hold for 2016? Only time will tell. |

6. Problem is, there's always another election
so it winds up never getting discussed.

7. Well he's not wrong.
Look at what happened in 2000 when republicans made gay marriage a wedge issue. What happened? It drove the crazies to the polls in record numbers.
The "they're going to take our guns away" crowd would vote as fast as they're buying AK-47s. And that would be a definite lose lose. ![]() |
