I think the craziest meme ever is that Hurricane's purposely aim at Cities or States that Love the Gays.

For fundamentalists, the answer is "gays are bad and will cause bad things to happen" and then they go looking for questions such as "Why is the economy not as strong right now?" or "What causes dangerous weather?"
It is confirmation bias.

(8,028 posts)...of the gay community in Utah, consists of LDS returned missionaries. Sadly, another part of that group ends up being suicide statistics, due to intolerance and guilt.
Salt Lake City has always been one of the largest gay communities in the United States.
The Gallup survey, released Friday, found 4.7 percent of Salt Lake City residents identify as LGBT. San Francisco ranked highest at 6.2 percent, while Birmingham, Alabama, ranked lowest at 2.6 percent.

ETA: Back in the day, mid to late 70s, BYU (Brigham Young University) used to send spies to the Sun Tavern to look for BYU students and write down license plate numbers in the parking lots. Lots of kids got excommunicated from the LDS church and kicked out of BYU behind those tactics.
