Chris Christie speaks About Government Shut Down

(CNSNews.com) – During a question and answer segment at the No Labels Problem Solver Convention in Manchester, N.H., GOP presidential contender New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said if the federal government shuts down, it’s everyone’s failure, including the president’s “because he has an obligation” to bring people together and “get them to agree.”

“If the federal government closes down some time in the next couple of weeks, that is a pox, not only on the house of Congress, it is a pox on the president of the United States, because he has an obligation too to bring people in the room and get them to agree, so everyone is a failure when that happens. It hasn’t happened on my watch in New Jersey, and if I’m president, it won’t happen then either,” Christie said.

Christie was responding to a question from an audience member, who said: “When the government shuts down, that damages the full faith in the United States as the world leader for the monetary system. What could you do or what do you recommend be done so that we never experience another shutdown in government, because I feel my government should never shut down because of some stupid reason that they seem to come up with.”

“I said this the last time it closed down: It’s a fundamental failure of leadership by everyone when government shuts down, fundamental failure of leadership. All you’re getting hired to do is to govern, and then you stop governing and say, that’s okay? That’s what you’re hired to do,” said Christie.

Congress approved a stopgap spending measure just shy of the Sept. 30 deadline, keeping the government open until at least December, when Congress will revisit the issue. Republicans had been in a standoff with Democrats over demands for a continuing resolution that defunds Planned Parenthood after it was discovered through undercover videos that officials with the nation’s largest abortion provider discussed the harvesting and sale of aborted baby body parts.

Maybe Christie should work on bring his own party together then will talk things over. The last speaker that "negotiated" with Obama is the one his party wasted the better part of the summer plotting to remove and failing in humorous fashion at it.

I know I know....I shouldn't say anything about his weight, but that photo looks as if he's lying on his back instead of sitting upright.
