The elephant was in the room for 14 years before being noticed.

The fact that George Bush was never held responsible for his 911 failures is baffling. I don't recall one newspaper or TV news network ever questioning his performance. I remember watching Fox on 9/12 and one of the news women was concern trolling: 'Why did the Democrats cut our defense? It's so sad really.'

Rove must have been at work with a narrative. Fox of course was all in with him but everyone else just fell in line. Even this latest from Trump will go right over their heads I bet.

questionable.

In addition, there were FBI agents trying to alert on some of them.

Accused Democrats of being traitors (essentially) the next midterm election.

No shame whatsoever.

Said one prominent DEM. DEMS are just as responsible for Bush never being held accountable.

The first (of many, many) problems is that they need to hear it from a similar authority figure first before they admit it out loud.

The more similar the speaker of truth is to themselves, the more they're willing to listen. I, for instance, am a straight white male. This gives me an amazing ability to penetrate the intransigence of other straight white males because it makes it easier to empathize. People that have heard, but never listened, to the words from a person of color's mouth will often listen to me like it was the literal Gospel.

I also believe that even the gayest, blackest, female-ist person alive can on some level identify with this, and that empathy is part of the human condition and thus understandable by most people. IMHO, the difference is that conservatives usually need to personally identify in order to empathize -- e.g. Cheney and his daughter -- whereas liberals are usually more skilled at empathy.

Therefore I believe that many Republican voters believe the same things that Trump and Sanders (or any other Democrat) believe, except that Republicans need to hear it in person from someone ostensibly similar.

It starts with the whole, "Well it's too soon to talk about who's at fault, let's focus on healing" meme.

Soon, it gets replaced by the next shiny new headline. In the end, nobody stands accountable, and frankly, nobody really heals.

Tobacco, guns, Katrina and Global Warming, health care yada yada yada....

Lather, rinse, repeat. They pretty much have it down to a social control science.

It's pretty plain that the dialogue for a justifiable war wasn't to be sullied with inconvenient facts.
