Do you believe Biden had veto power over Obama Cabinet selections?

(In GD because Biden is not an announced candidate.)

Earlier today, in an event to honor Walter Mondale, Joe Biden said, among other things, that (1) he actually was in favor of the Osama bin Laden raid, (2) he likes Dick Cheney, "for real", and (3) that President Obama gave him veto power over Cabinet selections.

I'm pretty skeptical of the first claim, more or less revulsed by the second, and incredulous at the third.

Would Obama really do something like that? I would think someone who has expended the time and energy to win the presidency would not so readily cede authority to a junior partner. It just doesn't seem plausible to me.

If it is, then there are some interesting questions to ask: Did Biden actually veto anyone? If he did, who? If he didn't, then what was the point of his supposed veto?

For what it's worth, the White House spokesman evaded the question when asked about it:

“You’ll have to take it up with one of the two of them if they’re willing to talk about it publicly.”

I'm disgusted with Biden over that Cheney comment. Biden said he thinks Cheney's a decent guy. octoberlib Oct 2015 #1

Why would Obama give him veto power? That sounds crazy to me.

Biden had been in Washington a whole lot longer, and knew people better. And he had more foreign policy knowledge than Obama. And more Wall St connections. So it's possible Obama relied somewhat heavily on Biden in filling out Cabinet...but it seems a stretch to say he actually had absolute veto power.

but I doubt very seriously if he actually did.

This stalling on the decision to enter the race is going to ruin any good will that all but his most ardent supporters have for him and if he jumps in, he will not win.
