Study suggests that men who cat-call women tend to have smaller testicles

Not The Onion!!

http://deadstate.org/study-suggests-that-men-who-cat-call-women-tend-to-have-smaller-testicles/

In his research at the University of Cambridge’s biological anthropology department, Dunn confirmed something we’ve all know for a long time: Men tend to overcompensate when they’re lacking certain ‘reproductive traits.’

According to Dunn’s research, primates with the loudest roars tend to have smaller testicles – resulting in less sperm. “When males invest in large bodies, bright colors, or weaponry such as horns or long canines, they are unable to also invest in reproductive traits,” Dunn said.

Of course. Big trucks, roided-out physiques, cat-calling – these guys have to be packing small. Now science has confirmed it.

“It may be that investment in developing a large vocal organ and roaring is so costly that there is simply not enough energy left to invest in testes,” Dunn said to U.S. News.

But I'll remember that line in case I need it at the nursing home in about 15 years!

And part of my job is to keep people in the community and out of nursing homes.

What a curious study. Those that fear the inability to reproduce, howl and make the most noise to attract a mate. This so explains republicans!

Just google "Current Biology" and look for the title:
"Evolutionary Trade-Off between Vocal Tract and Testes Dimensions in Howler Monkeys"

(Unfortunately I cannot get the links to stick here at DU. Looks like you are on your own to read it for yourself. On the right side of the abstract, you'll find the PDF of the full report.)
