Not terribly bright scheduling on the part of the repukes, who won't be reaching a whole lot of people in the Tri-State or KC areas tomorrow night.
As for myself, Let's Go Mets!

(62,444 posts)Since I gave up on a lot of the "news" shows, that's been one of my favorite discoveries. I'm impressed with the talent involved in having to synch up the performances to the rambling narration.

(17,997 posts)I laugh harder at that show than anything else on tv. And I laugh a lot!

(26,598 posts)says she's learned more history than she did in high school.. I watched the one about Harriet Tubman, excellent! Meantime, the kid is doing great on our Wed evening trivia team, which is what we'll be doing tonight.

(38,687 posts)The History Dept. building at my college sat adjacent to the Rathskeller. I took several History courses...all through a beer fog.

After discussing power deflation theory, one could wander onto the big lawn and sit at the base of a titanic lob lolly pine and consider Peruvian politics in a bluish haze of Spanish moss and looming red brick Gothic.

They are trying to get the ballpark ready. Might be a long game if there are rain delays.

(18,864 posts)Had changed raining to training. I hate auto correct. It does the weirdest things.
I guess it cleared off in time over by the stadium. It was still kind of raining at my house until after 8.

Be it Tonight or tomorrow, some folks will still have to choose between the debate and baseball, and I will be watching baseball.

<snip>
Its not news to anyone that political journalists tend to be liberal. That alone doesnt mean theyre bad at their jobs, but the presence of strong political views combined with the lack of ideological diversity can pose problems for those with differing political views.
We see this frequently with mediated political debates, where journalists moderate and control what topics are covered, how questions are framed, and what assumptions are built into topics.
Some journalists are better than others, of course, but too often the moderators from smug local journalists to Candy Crowley become part of the story. They frequently dont have the policy chops to ask good policy questions or respond to dumb policy answers. When they generally agree with a politician, they wont push back on even the most erroneous or outlandish claims. But if they disagree with a candidate, theyll push back, no matter how uninformed about the matter at hand they may be. This is related to another point of confusion: they seem to believe its their job to argue with candidates rather than facilitate discussions among candidates. The debate is supposed to be with one other, after all, not with the moderator.

(78,249 posts)Do you suppose it'll be decked out with KC gear? Actually, believe it or not, NOLA is a Cubs town (!), dating back to before there were any Braves or Astros or Rangers, and the city had close trade ties with Chicago.
Enjoy my former home town, chere! And do try to get out of the Quarter. Believe it or not, there are even better restaurants Uptown along the St. Charles streetcar and Magazine bus lines, Mid-City along the Canal streetcar and Esplanade bus, and really, all over the place. Yelp is your friend.

(11,425 posts)In the 7th Ward. In the "hood" 😛 Real New Orleans. We walked to Frenchman most nights but also to Elizabeth and Cake Cafe further out. Went to Tomas Bistro in Warehouse for anniversary.
Mostly local neighborhood places like Horns for Breakfast.
Last time we came we were only tourists at Rock and bowl across town. And just about got yelled at for being Giants fans at a sports bar across town.
We love to take city bus or trolley out of main area.

(13,390 posts)I just have to check into FB for my KCer updates. I'm not much interested in being there through the endless play by play, but there's something about the long standing underdog that I like. I'd love to see the Mets win.
As for the debate NO WAY. If I want to watch anything, I'll turn to Netflix.

(13,390 posts)I won't be mentioing it to my classmate friends and family. I'm seeing that a lot of them are really into it.
CoMo sits exactly halfway between the 2 cities on I70, but it tends to be more of a Cards town. Devoted Cards fans HATE the Royals after the 85 series enough to be happy to see them lose. So, I'm safe at home.
