Probably for the last time. It is the dementia ribbon magnet.
I'm handing out homework. In the next week or so, try to see the film "Still Alice". The trailer is below. I finally got up the nerve to see it today. Alice has a rare for of Alzheimer's. Not the same as my FTD. I watched it alone and it hit hard. Kindred spirits on some things.
Several DUers noticed I was struggling late last week through the weekend with a fever, meds, and FTD combined. It wasn't pretty, but this time I didn't get a lock.
When you have 20 minutes watch this:

(20,628 posts)and am still trying to bring myself to a point where I can watch the film. Maybe a selfish fear of perhaps having to face the same thing myself some day.

(17,997 posts)I've seen the movie. Killed me. My mom has severe, fast moving dementia. She taught English at the local college. The similarities with Alice were frightening. I wholeheartedly believe my father had FTD, now that I'm aware of it.
:hugs: I hope you are feeling a little better today

(1,771 posts)It gives me pause. I think we all lose sight of the fact that there are real people behind these words.
Will take on my homework assignment. Had seen the title 'Still Alice' but didn't know what it was about.
A few years ago I came across some work by Bex Finch. At the time it really hit me. Hard. I think it was because I saw a little of myself in her father. Not sure if you would want to look at her work, but if you do......

(99,503 posts)I've got private thoughts from so many DUers since I told everybody about my FTD back in March. I'm a lucky guy.
Edit to add: I'm reading about her dad now.

(1,771 posts)Yes, you are a very lucky guy. I've always said that the true measure of "wealth" is what you get from giving. It isn't about money or things. You are also a very wealthy man.

(99,503 posts)We have a sick granddaughter too.
My best friend's mom had a stroke early yesterday morning. Tests today show it was minor and she will go home after some therapy in a few day as long as she stays this good.
