My Favorite Moments from the GOP Debate.
I love it when the GOP candidates whine about the press being so unfair to them. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY plays the victim card more than conservatives these days.
Favorite moments:
1. When the host asked Cruz to comment on the Debt Ceiling vote, and he ducked the question by whining about how unfair the press is to Republicans. Then, after getting his well-earned cheap applause line, and the host moved on to ask Rand Paul a question you can hear Cruz bellowing in the background "do you WANT an answer to that question?! Do you WANT an answer to that question!?" And the moderator didn't yield an inch. He just said "no, Senator, you used your time for something else." And wouldn't let him answer. That was a turning point in the debate, and it was the last time one of them pulled that stunt.
2. When a moderator asked Rubio about his pathetic track record of handling his own finances (foreclosure on his house, liquidating his pension plan to pay bad debts etc.) he immediately went into his "poor son of a bartender and a maid" stump speech, and got his cheap applause line. The moderator then pointed out that all this happened AFTER he'd been a Senator earning $170K per year, and signing a $million dollar book deal. He made a sheepish grin, told everybody that the book is now available in paperback if they were interested in buying it, and repeated his "poor son of a bartender and a maid" routine.
