A 2-year-old California girl and her beloved cat are together again thanks to the dogged work of an Omaha private investigator.
Mona Kay of Omahas Mona K Investigations said shes no Ace Ventura, pet detective, but she is glad to have helped find Sheba the cat.
Riley McDermid of Vallejo, in the San Francisco Bay Area, mother of the 2-year-old girl, reported the pet missing last month, and the cat eventually was located 1,600 miles away, in Omaha.
McDermid told Kay that Sheba disappeared around the time an Omaha brother and sister came to her neighborhood to retrieve their late fathers possessions from his home. Neighbors said a black cat named Lucy had bolted out the door when the brother and sister entered the residence, and the Omahans had been looking for it.
