This week we are experiencing the highest of highs, and lowest of lows.
We found out earlier this week that our daughter is about to get married - as in tomorrow. She and we are close, but not geographically - she is 3000 miles away, so we will be joyful for her from a distance. Because....
we also found out that my wife's sister is nearing her long battle with brain cancer. I just booked my wife on a flight tomorrow so she can find her peace and closure, and help the family through.
Things are really rough around here at DU. No doubt politics does influence many of our lives in many ways, so I certainly in no way belittle the real impact of our choices.
But every now and then I am reminded that personal joy and/or tragedy sweep politics into a very distant place. Sometimes in things I read here from some of you - and, when it is personal for me - like now.
Peace to all of you, no matter where you stand on all that is currently being played out. I feel like a dishcloth that has been completely wrung out; exhausted, emotionally wrecked. Going to go take my dogs for a long walk and look at the autumn foliage.

Very sad news about your sister-in-law.
At times like these, there is nothing one can do but wait and lean on each other.
