Republicons ponder: "What if they gave a debate and nobody came?"

Who says the Republicons are not forward looking?

Liberals and Progressives have for a long time posited that Republicans were not only NOT forward looking, but that they want to turn the clock back. However today Replicons let the world know that they indeed can look forward. The Republicon presidential candidates, specifically, are looking forward, specifically, to changing this whole debatey primary thing.

I suspect that this has been on their collective (pardon the term) minds (pardon the term) for quite some time. In fact, we should have seen this coming.

It was first telegraphed in the infamous 2012 RNC Tampa Eastwood Schtick.

Admittedly it was not fully formulated at that time. However, Clint Hang 'em High Eastwood proved that you could get information from an empty chair. The fact that the "facts" coming from the empty chair were not, in fact, facts was only of minor importance.

And by "minor" I mean: of absolutely NO importance whatsoever. Sort of like obtaining information from Fox News.

For decades they have been annoyed that "facts" were retrieved by those other Amerians by direct osmosis through the micron filter known as the lamestream liberal media. After all, that is why Fox News was created.

However as Fox News became more and more left wing, they began casting around for a way to avoid the lamestream media altogether. Their first step was to cast Clint "get of my lawn" Eastwood as a ventriloquist at the Tampa convention.

Move ahead, if you will, to 2014 and the beginning of the RNC sponsored primary debates.

The first debate, as you will recall, was moderated by a team of "gotcha" lefties from Fox News.
I mean, who was the politically correct Megan "lefty loser" Kelly to question the bona fides of a truth telling birther like The Donald.

The second debate was even worse. They had to undergo grueling gotcha questions for thee whole hours. So, the two front runners got together and put their mind together. Pograms (sic.) out there? Surly (sic.) they could come up with a good idea. I mean, what is an idea to an idealogue?

Hadn't they come up with the idea of retaliating to the 9/11 tragedy by invading Iraq for some totally unrelated reasons? Something tells me this will not end well.

With little Bobby Jindal whining at the kid's table, they presented a wall - they are good at presenting walls - to CNBC, the moderators of the upcoming third debate. Little Bobby Jindal threatened to take his ball and go home, and The Donald and Bennie "the blade" (OK, so that moniker came from Charley Pierce in his piece at Esquire) demanded that the debate be reduced to two hours. As CNBC had only planned to go two hours in the first place, they immediately caved - The Donald is, perhaps, the all time BEST negotiator in the world ... by his own admission.

The debate came and went - and it went well - well, it went. More "substantive," (and by "substantive" I mean: substantive) questions from the lamestream lefty gotcha pundits. Fortunately Ted "the annointed one" Cruz would have none of it. He launched into a tearade against these upstarts. How dare they ask the Donald if he aspired to be more like the Joker or the Riddler.

That is when they remembered the stellar performance of Clint "the chair" Eastwood. Why even get on the stage? After all, an empty podium could get the facts out there as easily as ... Clint and the chair.

And so they ponder: "What if they gave a debate ... and nobody came?"

I ask you.

What if?
