Pawn Star Rick Harrison loves Rubio

A video with Glenn Beck and Rick -

?t=11

Seems he has come out for Rubio:

"Earlier this year, the show's star, Rick Harrison, announced his support for Marco Rubio
Harrison discusses why he chose Rubio, his thoughts on Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, and his hatred of political correctness"

Well, one less show to watch- if that makes any difference.

As long as he keeps buying cool shit, and I get to see it and learn a little history, I'll keep on watching. I don't let politics dictate whether I watch a certain show or not. If I like a show I watch it. If I don't like a show, I won't watch it. What the stars or hosts hoid as their personal opinions has nothing to do with it for me. Same with music.

I watched that show for years but just don't like the guys anymore. So it just isn't fun. The learning a little bit of history is its only redeeming value. Pity that this guy has gone so much teabagger, he got lucky and should be grateful not antagonistic.

...give me an example of where he has gone "Ted Nugent" during any of the episodes shown on the History Channel? I haven't delved into his personal life outside the show simply because I don't care. His laugh is a little irritating, but a small price to pay for the chance to see some most interesting things. If I thought I needed a background check to determine whether I enjoy different venues of entertainment based on someone's political leanings, I wouldn't have time to enjoy them. I don't agree with Reba McEntire's political views, but I'm a fan of her music. If I hear a song, and I like it, why would that song be any less enjoyable to me because I find out they don't share my views politically? I believe Democrats should be in charge of every aspect of government because they're way better at it than republicans, but I ain't out to win "Lefty of the Year". I'm a simple man, but I like who I am.

Exactly. Watch the show and maybe a few of the first few episodes. And see how he has changed into a greedy bastard rather than just a basic guy working at a pawn shop.

He doesn't really espouse his political views on the show but his attitude is more contemptuous about people trying to sell stuff than before. He revels in their poverty now. I just don't like the guy anymore. He is arrogant.

...our perception of this character differ a little. I think the actual transactions on the show are genuine, and too many times I have seen this "greedy bastard" bring in someone to verify the authenticity, and value of something, and end up paying far more than what the seller originallly wanted. Go to any pawn shop in America, and I doubt you will find a single one that will settle for a 10% profit over a 30 to 50% profit anywhere. A lot of things they buy may sit on the shelf for years, or may never get sold. It's the nature of the business, and I can't tell you how many times during my lifetime I have been grateful they existed when an emergency has come up, such as the rent, gas for work, or to "put food on my family". And for the record, I have run across my share of left leaning people who would fit into the "greedy bastard" category too.

I don't know why anyone cares about the politics of television or film personalities. I do know that Rick Harrison is well read, especially about history. Apparently he was a sickly child and immersersed himself in reading books. He does know the history of many of the items that are presented on the show. Most of the others are fed information by producers.

Rick Harrison was an intregal part of the operation from the start. If he can build a multi-million dollar operation without a college degree, he probably would have been successful at something else. It was his idea for the TV show and he pursued it, it was not handed to him. Now, if Chumlee had not been employed there at the time this show started, he would probably still be making $12/hour at the shop.

realistic. The Harrison's chose to show the buying and selling rather than the pawning. They have a big store as well, you just don't see it on TV. They also are never at that front counter anymore. The entire show is staged. I used to watch it more before they made it the "Chumlee is a doofus" show.

I'm not going to watch a Glenn Beck video just to find out.

As to Harrison, at the CNN link, he spouted this line straight from the far-right hysterics department.

"You get these massive liberal PC police, they don't see the law of unintended consequences. You have some cities that are saying that if you have a man who feels like he's a woman, he can use the women's restroom. I guarantee you that will be taken advantage of by some very bad men who want to go into a bathroom where there's young ladies. That will happen if you pass a law like that."

Watching people part with personal treasures is easier to take when you see that they have them piled up in a barn or attic, instead of tightly clutched in their hand, hoping to get enough to pay their rent.

Way more history and sociology on American Pickers. And the people are nicer!

I used to have to drive down to the Quad Cities quite a bit for work. My Grandpa's 90th birthday was coming up so I wanted to see if I could find something from the year he was born (1923). Unfortunately he passed 16 days before his 90th birthday, so I didn't go ahead with that plan. I might go and see if I can find something for my mom's 70th birthday next year from them.
